Dave Esser
David Esser’s roots run deep in the heart of Texas. His family has owned and operated Esser Ranch, a 10,000-acre working cattle, sheep, and goat ranch in Kendalia, Texas, for more than 133 years. The ranch regularly hosts veterans throughout the year, providing space for connection, restoration, and camaraderie.
David operates a custom home and commercial construction company and brings extensive experience across all aspects of construction. In 2018, he served as the general contractor for A Soldier’s Journey Home’s home build outside of San Antonio, marking the beginning of his long-standing involvement with the organization. He has remained an active and committed volunteer ever since.
In addition to his construction work, David hosts wounded veterans on his ranch for hunting and long-distance shooting, and he also guides veterans on neighboring ranches in the area. His hands-on involvement with veterans—combined with his construction expertise—led to his recommendation as a general contractor for ASJH.
David’s experience as a former board member with another nonprofit, along with his background in construction, company management, and unwavering dedication to veterans, makes him a valuable member of the A Soldier’s Journey Home Board of Directors.
David describes building homes for deserving veterans with ASJH as tremendously rewarding and considers it an honor to serve alongside the organization. As he puts it, “Giving back to someone who was injured while protecting my freedoms and everything we get to do every day is the least I can do.”
