Eric Abney
Eric Abney began his volunteer journey in a small valley in Iowa, where he joined first responders from across the country to build a chapel. That experience sparked a lasting commitment to service beyond his own community. Since then, Eric has volunteered on projects in Arkansas, Georgia, North Dakota, New York, Oklahoma, Alabama, Tennessee, Illinois, and his home state of Louisiana.
Eric served the citizens of Slidell, Louisiana as a firefighter for more than 26 years. He rose to the rank of Captain while assigned to Rescue 11, spending nearly two decades in fire suppression. He later transferred to the department’s Training Division, where he served as a Training Officer, helping prepare the next generation of firefighters. Eric also served as a member of his department’s Honor Guard.
Eric resides in Slidell with his wife, Noelle, and their two sons, Logan and Blakely, and remains deeply committed to service—both at home and across the country.
