Sharon Holland
Sharon Holland joined A Soldier’s Journey Home in 2019 during a build near Chattanooga, Tennessee. Originally from San Diego, California, she grew up in a Navy family, which shaped her lifelong connection to military service.

Sharon, a career federal employee with the Department of War, began her public service at the National Naval Medical Center—now Walter Reed National Military Medical Center—in Bethesda, Maryland, a facility that has cared for the majority of the nation’s war wounded from Iraq, Afghanistan, and other post-9/11 conflicts. Since 1982, she has served at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, the nation’s only federal health sciences university, located adjacent to Walter Reed, where she currently holds the roles of interim Vice President for External Affairs and Director of Alumni Affairs.

Sharon’s professional background also includes service as a Fellow in the U.S. Senate, as well as work as a reporter and photographer for newspapers in Florida, Maryland, and California. Since 2004, she has volunteered as the Public Information Officer for the Fraternal Order of Leatherheads Society, an international firefighter 501(c)(3) organization.

In 2021, she co-founded the Partnership for Aurora–Richland Township Progress, a 501(c)(3), and serves as its volunteer Executive Director, leading efforts to revitalize the town of Aurora, North Carolina. She also serves as the volunteer Chair of the Tourism Development Committee for the Aurora Leadership Council and as the Town of Aurora’s volunteer Communications Coordinator.
